Flower pods pounded from metal, shadows cast on a walkway, tree trunks and nests made of glass, watercolors larger than life, exuberant colorful oil paintings.

I encourage everyone to visit this exquisite show at the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton, CA, thoughtfully curated by Julie Finegan of the Firehouse Arts Center. The exhibit showcases the work of seven artists, who use a range of materials to express their experiences of nature. Beautifully installed, the energy of these works flows from room to room, offering an oasis of harmony in a turbulent world.

Recent work from the Wild Things series, as I continue to investigate and interpret botanical forms. Corn Lilies (Veratrum californicum) are native perennials that grow in moist meadow lands of the Eastern Sierras and are found in several western states. Although considered poisonous, these plants contain a unique alkaloid that has been used in clinical trials to treat certain forms of cancer, by inhibiting the hedgehog signaling pathway.
