Richmond Art Center, Summer 2018

Lots going on at the Richmond Art Center! Two of my paintings are included in concurrent exhibits.

Small Works: Selections by Phil Linhares

I’m honored that my work was selected for this show and received a Juror’s Award.

About the Juror: Former Chief Curator of the Oakland Museum of California, Philip Linhares has organized numerous exhibitions on contemporary art, including solo exhibitions of the work of Leon Golub, Joan Brown, Jim Nutt, Bruce Nauman, and Ruth Asawa. In the Oakland Museum of California’s recent gallery transformation and reinstallation, Linhares directed the installation on Folk Art and Counter Culture including works by Peter Mason Bond and Martin Ramirez (Folk Art) and Wally Hedrick, Jay DeFeo and Bruce Conner (Counter Culture).

Borders, Edges, and Seams at Studio Channel Islands, Camarillo, CA

Life’s interesting tidbits can often be found hidden in the seams, lurking at edges or shut out by the borders. A selected group of artists interpret this theme through a variety of art forms. Join us for the reception on Saturday, August 5, 4pm to 6pm.

Juror: Carol Sauvion is an American crafts scholar and patron, and the producer of the PBS series Craft in America. After opening the Freehand Gallery in Los Angeles in 1980 and launching Craft in America in 2007, she opened the Craft in America Study Center in 2009.

This one night event features artwork for auction from more than 100 artists – displayed by hue. All artwork is approximately 10 x 10 inches. My painting, Ode to the Animas River, will be in the orange section!

Contributions provide direct support for Project Color Corps’ mission, making it possible to transform communities through paint and pattern.
